Christian Divorce

Jacksonville, FL – After 14 years of marriage and 19 years of friendship, Devout Christian and Ordained Minister, award winning, Emmy-nominated former TV News Journalist, Dwann Holmes Olsen says she never imagined she’d have to go through a divorce from her college sweetheart.  When it happened she was in shock, but even more shocking to her was being snubbed by various church leaders.

“ I remember one Sunday after church, one of the Pastors at the church I attended at the time, apologized to me after admitting, she didn’t want to feel my pain and hurt, so rather than deal with me, she found reasons to push me off,” Olsen explains. “ As a matter of fact, it was the first time that most of the pastors and leaders in my intimate circle of mentors, actually stopped and said, ‘Wow, I don’t know what to say.” Olsen adds.

That opened Olsen’s eyes to the depth of what other Christian Divorcees were dealing with around the country. After almost 18 months of serious soul searching and much healing, Olsen decided it was time to do something.

The answer in her mind, start a Christian divorce blog.

Though she was still a bit embarrassed by becoming a “fatal family” statistic herself, Olsen pushed through the fear and even the shame to launch her New Year’s Blog, “ The Truth About Christians & Divorce” on January 7, 2010.

“ I really believe the Bible and what it says about “the enemy being defeated by the Blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony” …so I figured it was time for me to start telling my testimony in a way that would also help heal and encourage others.

I know the thought of it seems quite simplistic, but once I started blogging and getting feedback, I realized my blog was serving a purpose, much bigger than I imagined.” Olsen states. I began getting email messages and Myspace messages from people who identified themselves as Christians, who also had horror stories of being judged, condemned and even banished”

Though most of the last 10 years of her life off TV air-waves, have been spent helping Churches with Media Ministry Outreach, Olsen believes much of 2010 and beyond, she’s called to shine the light on an under-served population in the church and to really explain “The Truth About Christians & Divorce.”
